The patient, friendly and professional High Peak driving Instructors
Dave McDougall's Driving School is an independent driving school based in Buxton, Derbyshire offering tuition for all of the High Peak area including Buxton, Chapel en le Frith, Whaley Bridge, Chinley and surrounding areas. He also offers driving tuition further afield to those who wish to take their practical driving test in Buxton.
Dave has lived in Buxton for over a decade now and after a career in the Civil Service decided to take up driving tuition as he helped teach both his daughters to drive and yes both are still speaking to him! Indeed Lynsey joined dad in the business recently. Dave's other motivation was his dislike of fast and inconsiderate drivers on our roads, hoping he could do something, however small, to contribute to safer roads.
Dave qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) in 2009 and Lynsey just a few months ago, having been trained by one of the biggest companies in the country. ADI certification is given by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) which is part of the Department of Transport. All ADIs must pass stringent tests and are regularly "check tested" to ensure standards are maintained.
Dave and Lynsey drive a modern blue Corsa, fully equipped with dual controls, air bags and ABS braking system, to provide the safest possible learning environment. The car is maintained to the highest standards and regularly serviced by the main Vauxhall dealer.
Dave has a current first time pass rate of 70% and works to a programme of up to 30 driving lessons to prepare you for your test; sometimes you need less, occasionally a few more but the main thing is that he works at a pace you are comfortable with and will tell you the minute you are ready for your test. Dave and Lynsey are also keen to accompany you on your test, to offer you moral support and take on board what advice the examiner might offer for future pupils.
